U.S. Tour

Ben Watt has now announced me as part of his band for his June tour of the U.S. Contrary to a few bizarre reports this is not my first time in the US in 20 years ( ! ) as i did two trips with Ben in 2014! Anyway we wil be playing songs from Ben's solo records including the new "Fever Dream" which is receiving amazing reviews at the moment so I hope you can make it if you are nearby.

All the dates including the UK and Japan ones this week are as always here on the Live page

Kate Jackson

Kate Jackson has released a taster from the album we made together. "British Road Movies" was produced by me and written with Kate mainly around 2010 but we only got around to finishing it recently. It's a beautiful, yearning and fuzzy English record which I'm very proud of and have waited a long time for people to hear. Find out more at The Quietus , follow Independent Music Monday  to hear "Metropolis"  and more on their great playlists, and pre-order the album here .

Ben Watt "Fever Dream"

Ben Watt releases his new album "Fever Dream" on April 8th on his own Unmade Road label. It is Ben's 3rd solo album and the follow up to 2014's Hendra which I also featured on. It was recorded in a short live session last autumn at Rak's small and wonderful studio 2, one of my favourite rooms, where I recorded with McAlmont & Butler, The Libertines, The Tears, Kate Nash and many others. The band comprises Rex Horan on bass and Martin Ditcham on drums. The first cut "Gradually" can now be found on Spotify and the lovely accompanying video can be found here . I played my gorgeous cherry red Gibson 295 Memphis for most of the record through a half cocked wah-wah on its lowest setting, and through both a Lazy J J20 and 1964 Vox AC10 Twin.

Read more from Ben on his website and check the live page for all the live dates.

Celtic Connections - Bert Inspired

Really proud to announce I will once again be celebrating the work and life of Bert Jansch, this time as part of  the Glasgow Celtic Connections Festival in January. I will play two nights with Ben Watt 30/1 at the Fruitmarket and 1/2 at the Royal Concert Hall. Other guests will include Ryley Walker, Jacquie McShee, Robert Plant and many more. The concerts organised by the Bert Jansch Foundation are titled "Bert Inspired" and will revolve around Bert's own work and songs which have been inspired by him. You can find ticket links on my live page.

Backstreet Merchandise are doing a limited run of t shirts as part of the McAlmont & Butler tour. You can buy a lovely shirt featuring a photo of my actual Gibson ES-355 via the M&B website here. If you don't already have tickets for the shows next week there are still a few left here .

"Kids In Crisis" Documentary

Hi I performed parts of the underscore to the TV documentary "Kids In Crisis" which aired last night on Channel 4. The score was arranged by Nick Phillips who asked me to contribute some guitar.
If you'd like to have a look, listen to the moving score and follow the fascinating documentary you can view again here .

Ben Watt & Ron Sexsmith

I will be appearing alongside Ben Watt on Tuesday 30th June as special guests for Ron Sexsmith's show.
Details and ticket link are On the live page . We will be playing for around 40 minutes and Ben has a bunch of new songs we have been rehearsing.
